Interview: Meanato

“My name is Luke Cowen and I am a hip hop producer, born and raised in Scotland. Growing up in a place where rap music was never influenced, I have explored the genre and have put in the effort to understand it and now I produce my own beats for rappers. I love the ranges of music style in the rap scene and how it will forever develop into new things. My goal is to help guide rap music into a new age and make it reach new heights.”

Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
I am from the oil capitol of Europe, Aberdeen (Definitely relevant 😅). The city of Aberdeen is in Scotland and the music scene is mostly house and pop music.

What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Tyler, The Creator and Metro Boomin

How have your life experiences influenced your music?
I’m sure reading about my struggles and how I’ve overcome many challenges would make my music more interesting. However, if I’m being honest, I haven’t. Thankfully.
But the reason why I make music is purely built on my love for it and how it makes me and everyone feel. Just listening to music allows me to bring out my emotions and act as if the music playing is like the soundtrack to a film I’m in.
