Interview: Sergio Mwanawevhu

by | Mar 5, 2021 | New Artist Interviews, New in Hip Hop

Artist Name: Sergio Mwanawevhu

New Song/Release Title: Kare

Tell us something about you:
Passion is something I have never lacked and my music itself is proof enough of that. I am very versatile when it comes to my sound, I sing anything from Pop to RnB to Hip Hop. I'm 23 years old and I sing for a living.

I'm an artists based in Zimbabwe and honestly the music scene here is growing rapidly. It's been on the low for the past years but it's continuously growing and we see more of international collaborations and originality in sound.

Growing up, before my dad passed away in 2010 (I was 13), he used to always play music around the house and we'd always dance together this birthing the artist in me. Couple of years down the line I decide to take music professionally and I dropped out of college and left home. The journey was the toughest (I'm not saying it's not tough now but it's better). At one point in 2020 I was homeless and i didn't have anything to eat for days. I couldn't go back home because I had not achieved anything that I had set out for. So, I decided to live through the pain until one day it eventually worked out and I got help from a friend I met during my struggle (Joe) and he linked me with another guy (Ronald) who then helped me with accomodation and led to the recording of the heartfelt song 'Kare'. In that time I was staying rent free in a one room of a friend's place with no plan for food or anything and when the uncle knew about it he kicked me out and Ronald took me in and I had just known him for 3 days. And from there, the journey took a new turn.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Tamy Moyo, Chris Brown, Takura, Jonathan Mcreynolds
