Interview: PXVBS

by | Apr 14, 2021 | New Artist Interviews, New Rap Music Artists

Artist Name: PXVBS

New Song/Release Title: Built Different

Tell us something about you that fans should know:

I started recording music in 2011 on my moms desktop. Since then I fell completely in love with the art of independent music creation. I am a true Kai – Zen, Bedroom Rapper/Singer/Songwriter. I freestyle to thousands of beats and load the best ones into my DAW creating an authentic, new age Lil Wayne- Style mixtape release strategy. I'm very hands on with my art and I'm always pumping out new feature length projects with a consistent theme or a story to tell. I make anything I'm feeling at the time, and I use any producer's beats that I can get my ears on and vibe with. I freestyle choruses and bridges and verses and then write and record the best concepts to feed free music to my fanbase that has been rocking with me since my middle school MySpace mixtapes!

Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. "The Rock 'N' Roll City". For somewhere with giant tourist attractions dedicated to music you would think that Cleveland would have more venues and opportunities for artists to showcase their talents. Unfortunately opportunities are mostly pay to play and narrowly accessible while the scene remains over saturated with extremely talented and starving indie musicians spanning across a plethora of genres. The midwest is a tough marketing nut to crack, but we have the most diehard fans you could ask for so once you earn their support, those are fans for life.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?

My lyrics are very much freestyle therapy sessions between myself and whatever instrumental is playing at the time. Every syllable I utter and every note I transpose is a direct response to the things I've been through. My most recent mixtape is literally an autobiography of my time on earth thus far! I put myself into every bar and I believe that is the purest way to rap and also the most entertaining and engaging content to release.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Drake
