Interview: Max Bluecher

by | Mar 15, 2021 | New Artist Interviews, New in Hip Hop

Artist Name: Max Bluecher

New Song/Release Title: Fireflies

Tell us something about you:
I am an open minded artists who is willing to try out new combinations of sounds that don't fully fit into one genre. I still try to settle into the genre deep house but I also try to stay aware of developing my current style of instrumentation to further shape my music.

I grew up in Hannover Germany where by the age of 7 I got introduced to classical piano. I disliked it a lot but I still kept going. When I was 12 I started to focus on Jazz piano which was way more enjoyable for me at the time and where I started to realise the realm of musical freedom. The following year I started playing the alto saxophone to which I put my full attention to, also learning how to improvise. I took my knowledge from all the previous years and channeled them into the programm garageband. I started working on very simple lofi beats and melodies which later on got faster and faster until I ended up with techno. The idea of combining lo-fi with techno sounded very intriguing to me so I started creating the genre lo-tec which is a combination of the two genres. I kept going like that until I entered highschool. I thought about studying product design and debated a lot about pursuing a musical career. After a two year debate with myself I finally decided to study music in Berlin.
Here I collaborate a lot with various artists ranging from guitarists all the way to violinists and singers.

I come from a creative household, my grandfather was a artists and so is my dad and mom. I was never able to escape my roots so I just committed to them not in the visual arts but in musical expressionism. After a classmate of mind passed away shortly before our graduation (2 years ago) I realised how quickly life can be over so I decided to commit my energy and passion for music for at least the next 5 years of my life.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Ben Böhmer
