Artist Name: CHEM

Tell us something about you that fans should know:

I wouldn’t. It’s probably the the number one rule of experimentation for me, that I sort of stray from identifiable sources of sound. You could be listening to random asmr brush samples, to live recordings of trains and atomic bombs. You’d never know, and if I stopped in my tracks just to describe myself as one thing I’d probably never end up at those artistic conclusions.

Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

Austin, TX. The hip hop scene is ever slightly washed up but will occasionally beach some treasure. It has always been good energy though, I have some lifelong homies from it (S/O Ben Buck and NateTheeGreat of Aux Cutter). The electronic scene is probably too focused on the party. Honestly a club-oriented sound can be a bad thing tho, and I see a lot of djs play out the “what’s in” sound out of pure hype. There are some wholesome gems though, of course (S/O NoBody, dreamgoth, and Stefan Osae).
